Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is your cottage for rent?
A:  Haven & Grace has been our original family cottage since 2012 and is a place for us to share with our family and friends and people we feel are in need of respite.  We have set it up as an overflow to our main cottage which is down the beach.

This cottage is NOT a short term rental please do not share the information about our cottage with others.  It is not advertised and is not public information and we wish to keep it this way.
Q:  Can I invite guests to the cottage?

A:  If you decide to have guests who will be staying overnight we ask that you share their names and contact info with us. For liability reasons, we need to know who will be using our cottage.

Q:  Can we use the paddle boards?

A:  Yes, however we ask that ALL persons using paddle boards wear life jackets.  IF THE wind is blowing off shore (from the back of the cottage towards the lake) this means you and your paddle board will be carried away from shore. It will be much harder to paddle back if the wind is going in this direction.

Q:  Can we swim out far?

A:  Although Lake Erie is quite shallow on big windy days the lake does have an undercurrent which can pull children or weak swimmers under.  Even the strongest of swimmers have struggled on days like this. Please wear a life jacket on big wave days or better yet enjoy the waves from shore.

Q: Can we have a bonfire?

A:  Yes but you cannot have fires on windy days.  If you see small waves on the lake coming towards you, then that means the smoke will be going into neighbouring yards.  Please be mindful of this.  The town bylaws also require the bonfires to be put out fully by 11 pm.

Q:  Can I play music outside?

A:  You can play music up until 11 pm and at a reasonable level.  Please be mindful of our neighbours.

Q:  If there is a problem with neighbours what do I do?

A:  The property to the east (2035 Macdonald) the blue cottage is a rental and therefore you can talk to the renters yourself and resolve the issue or you can contact Jennifer 905-407-3274.  If there is a major issue please call 911

Q:  What do I do with our leftover food or non perishables?

A:  Please take all food items you brought to the cottage home with you.  DO NOT leave any food in fridge, freezer or cupboards.  Do not donate any food, storage containers, water toys etc or leave any items inside or outside of either cottage.

Q:  What items can I leave behind?

A:  If you have leftover paper towel, toilet paper and fresh garbage bags feel free to donate these items.  They will be gratefully used by future guests.
