Haven & Grace Cottage
Welcome to Haven & Grace Cottage
We hope that this cottage will bless you and that you will in turn
find a way to "pay it forward"
WE HOPE YOU ENJOY YOUR STAY!
LINENS: We ask ALL guests to bring their own sheet sets, pillowcases and towels. We will provide the duvets, pillows and blankets. BEDS in Main cottage: 1 KING, 4 Singles (Twin). Bunkie: 1 Queen Bed, 1 single bed. There is a store called Rosehill auction down the road that sells sheet sets for $15-30 if you require a certain size.
GARBAGE & RECYCLE: Please bring ALL YOUR GARBAGE & RECYCLE home with you or drop it off at the local dump @ 1300 Bridge St. Fort Erie. We DO not manage garbage at this cottage so please do not leave it in the cottage or at the road.
ROAMING: Make sure your phones are not set to roam or you might get a bill for US roaming. If you see Verizon or AT&T you are roaming.
YOUR STAY: You have the full cottage to use and you are welcome to use the bunkie which is the smaller cottage connected to the garage. There are bikes and some sports equipment in the garage. There is a trail just north of the cottage - called the friendship trail and it goes for miles in both directions. The cottage is located on a family beach called Bertie Bay.
KEYS: They are hanging from a nail inside the red mailbox - open the grey flap and they are on the interior right side. Key marked M for main cottage opens the deadbolt. G opens the garage and B opens the Bunkie.
GUESTS: Please let us know if you will be having any other guests staying with you overnight.
PETS: We only allow dogs, no cats. Please let us know if advance if you wish to bring your dog. We do not want any dogs on any furniture. Please keep them under control so they do not roam on neighbouring properties.
TV: The TV works through the appletv and you can activate any app with your own info. The bell fibe app works and is set up to my account – please don't order any movies or charge anything to the bell fibe account.
INTERNET: The internet passcode is CRYSTALBEACH and the internet is Birch Cottage. Its fast and reliable and you should be able to connect easily - call me if any issues. We have 4 google camera’s at the cottage, but we won’t use them while you are there - just wanted you to know about them. They are each located outside - you have full privacy - but wanted to tell you because you can see them. We have an Airbnb next door to the east and sometimes it can get rowdy so the camera’s are there for security.
THERMOSTATS: The thermostat on the wall near the bathroom can be adjusted to your liking. There is another thermostat in the front sun room which I will explain how to use (you will need to install an app on your phone - call me once you get settled). Fireplace is the third thermostat and its an easy on or off with a temp setting. Feel free to use it. The Bunkie has a modern and quiet ductless AC system for your use and several wall thermostats for baseboard heating.
SEPTIC: The cottage and Bunkie are both on delicate septic systems. Only Please read carefully:
DO NOT FLUSH: Paper towel, Tampons or Tampon applicators, baby wipes or condoms down the toilet.
The same septic system for the sinks - so bacon grease & food waste needs to be thrown out into the garbage. If you have any issues, just let me know right away. We do not compost because animals will get into compost bags when left outside.
LAUNDRY: Please only do laundry on a full load and do not run the laundry and dishwasher at the same time.
GARBAGE & RECYCLING:
Mondays at 7:00 AM is recycle pickup. There is a green garbage hut at the roadside, you can leave the blue bags tied up and put them on top.
Recycle is sorted as Cans, Bottles & Plastic together in one blue bag. Paper & Cardboard in another blue bag.
APPLIANCES: Everything is available for your use.
GARAGE: Door code is 5713. You can access through the side door and the up/down switch is on the wall near the light switch. Sometimes in winter it doesn’t always work so you have to try it until the red light on box turns on. Bikes are in the garage and there is a bike pump beside them.
PADDLEBOARDS: feel free to use these, recommend a life jacket and if the paddling is super easy then you have the wind at your back so don’t go too far - you have to paddle into the wind to get home! :)
BBQ: and outdoor furniture. If it rains please quickly put the cushions into the big storage bin located against the fence - we usually put them away before bed. BBQ has a full propane tank and utensils are in the kitchen island.
